Alice, the beloved horse in the picture above,  was tragically taken from us during the horrible storm that hit March 17, 2008.

She was struck by lightning.  She was due to foal in June, and was the only horse on the ranch that was not a rescue.  

She belonged to Vicki Adams, the director of the facility, and was boarded at the ranch so she would not be lonely.  

She will be very missed!  Alice was a wonderful mare that absolutely adored children and babies!  God bless Alice and may the angels enjoy the company of a wonderful companion!

Spring has been extremely rough at the ranch.We lost Alice in early spring,
and last night, we lost Miss Missy due to lightning.  You can absolutely help us change this by sending in donations to help us with expenses for a lightning rod.  Your support and help during these times is so appreciated.  THANK YOU SO MUCH! 


Question: Can you tell us how you first became interested in saving horses?

Vicki:
I have been a horse advocate for my entire life.  I had heard bits
and pieces about the horse slaughter issues, but being an outdoor person, I did not realize the magnitude of this issue until a friend of mine told me about the cruelty the horses endure.  Bandera County is "Cowboy Capitol of the World", and what better than to save the cowboy's most valuable asset, his horse. We are in "horse country", and due to location I believed that we could truly make a difference, and I truly believe that we HAVE




 
 
Harry T's Steak House in Pipe Creek is hosting a "Crawfish Boil" to benefit Miracle Ranch on Sunday, June 29, 2008, 3pm to 7pm to benefit Miracle Ranch!  Much to our surprise, Susie Porter of Cleveland, Ohio and owner of "The Town Fryer" restaurant,  is ALSO hosting a benefit "Crawdad Boil" at her business the same day!   Thank you all so much!
