These three Caspian mares were donated to Miracle Ranch
Foundation in February of 2008. After researching information on the "Caspian Breed", we discovered that they
are on the "Critically Endangered Horse Breed List". There are approximately 500 Caspian Horses in the United
States, and 1500 world wide. Caspians are a an "ancient" prehistoric breed believed to be extinct for
over a thousand years. Louise Firouz, and American is credited with recognition of the Caspians. They are under
current study by archaeozoologists to prove the link between Caspians and the ancient tiny horses of Persia. They were
barely pulled back from extinction in 1965. Their appearance is more like that of a "mini Arabian".
These horses are absolutely
the perfect first horse for a child, and we are looking forward to setting up a breeding operation in another location, and
utilizing these beautiful sweet horses for our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and children's programs. By implementing
a breeding program for these wonderful horses we are helping to rescue the entire breed!
They are very small horses comparative to ponies, and in fact are
in the pony class. All of these mares are under 13 hands! They do not have the temperament of ponies, and in fact
have more of the temperament of a horse. They are bred for "endurance" and are excellent " jumpers"!
They are very gentle "hot bloods", easily trained, and very cooperative.
